I was just looking for someone who would want to be a roommate which is the only word I can think of and who works. They would get free room and board and I would pay for the food.
lostsoul, your looking for what is called a Golden Girl [or Guy in your case as per your profile] type of set up? Free room and board in exchange for cooking and light housekeeping sounds like a good set-up. And of course, that room-mate is still employed outside of the home, as income is coming in for him.
In the mean-time, you can sign up for Meals on Wheels, where one main meal is delivered to your home. One of my neighbors does the delivery and he really enjoys sitting and talking with the people :)
