Mom is living with you. Unless she is going out and buying her own food then you need to bring home higher fiber foods and give those to her. She can have her cookies and candy but at the proper times.

She is not living with me. I was living far away and just moved back to my hometown, in part to provide relief to my sister and brother in law, who have been doing the best they can to support Mom in her desire to live alone in her own house.
She does have some behaviors consistent with vascular dementia, but I don't know if she has been diagnosed.

Stop questioning yourself. You know there is a problem even if she doesn't. Call the doctor's office. Maybe you can do a television and get further advice. And do it sooner rather later.
