I was referred by the nursing home to Optum which is an additional care provider for Nursing Homes and In Home Care.

They say that they bill Medicare and Medicaid and there is no additional charges, but the benefits seem pretty good.

Is it too good to be true? Or just something that we have not heard of before?

optum.com

It seems really interesting and if it is what it appears to be...perhaps a great resource.

OK...so this is legitimate and sounds really good. I spoke with the Social Worker at the home and she raves about them...said that the residents that get the extra support seem to do better and there is extra contact with family members. Basically another set of eyes on your loved one and early intervention, along with extra monies provided for over the counter pharma like cough syrup and such, extra money per year for hearing aids, dental and therapies that are not always covered with medicaid and medicare. Their services are offered in many States...super good idea...no extra costs with low income. :) I'll let you all know how it works out this month.
