John Hancock insurance Lyceum. How can family members caregivers be paid?

igloo572 Jan 7, 2026
Lyceum is a speciality insurance company. They work with employers (especially nonprofits) HR to coordinate insurance products.

John Hancock is way bigger and more generalist insurance company.

What each insurer can do is totally dependent on the term of the policy you have with them. Either you contact the insurer directly or go to your HR to help out determining what coverage is included in your policy.

I looked this up and I got two different answers. If this is a life insurance policy, caregivers probably would not be paid. If a Longterm care policy, you may be paid. It all determines how the policy reads. Some are only to be used for facility care. Others may pay for in home care. You need to read the policy throughly. If any questions, you contact the Insurance Company. They may send out a rep to explain the policy.

I would ask the insurance company itself if it has such a program. But I seriously doubt that it, or any other insurance does have such a policy. Generally, when family is paid to render care to a loved one, it is through a state/federal Medicaid program that is state mandated.

Do feel free to call the insurance company you mention; ask then how you can find out about being a paid caregiver to your elder. Also call your local council on aging. Speak with the Medical team involved with your elder's care about anything they might be aware of.
