Does Medicare cover for someone to come to the home to cut his toenails?

I take care of a 96 year-old dad. I am the one who maintains his feet and toes. I'm finding it harder and harder to cut his nails as the strengthen my hand as weakening. Does Medicare cover for someone to come to the home to cut his toenails? Thank you.

Medicare only pays for a podiatrist, every 10 weeks, for toenails. Moms podiatrist came to her AL but she was already his patient. When she transferred to LTC, a podiatrist came there. Call around to Nursing facilities in your area and ask what podiatrist they use. Maybe you can find one to come to your house.

Unless Medicare has changed since Mom was in LTC, fingernails are not covered.

They should cover it, yes. Call the number on the back of dad's supplemental Medicare insurance card to find out. A podiatrist came to moms AL once every 90 days or so to cut her toenails. There was a copay, if I remember correctly.

Good luck to you.
