I agree with cwillie This could be a stroke or TIA and probably should be checked out. It could be a UTI also something that should be checked out. Generally anything that happens suddenly should be a cause for concern. My Husband I think also had Vascular dementia so any sudden decline I attributed to a possible stroke and did not get it checked.
You don't give any details so I'm just going to throw this out there - suddenly speaking gibberish could be a sign of a stroke, or a TIA if it is something that only happened for a brief period of time

Generally anything that happens suddenly should be a cause for concern. My Husband I think also had Vascular dementia so any sudden decline I attributed to a possible stroke and did not get it checked.
