I’m trying to move to California. I received my SSI income. How can I relocate myself to an independent living, if I live in another state?

This seems to be the only post now.

Are you already in independent living? And what is your definition of independent living. For us independent living means Senior accomdations with meals included, activities and outtings. Then there is assisted living and longterm care. There is a difference between independent living and living independently.

By SSI do you mean Social Security? Or do you mean Supplimental Income?

If this is SS then you can move anywhere you want. You just need to make SS aware of your new address and bank account to send the payment to. Hopefully you can find a place your payment will cover the cost of. You will need to do a lot of research for the area you want to live in. Health Insurance is usually state specified. Meaning that different States allow different insurance companies to write policies in that state.

If by SSI you mean a supplimental income, that may not go from State to State. And with that usually comes Medicaid for health insurance and that does not go from State to state.

Traditional Medicare will go State to State but a suppliment may not. Medicare Advantages may not go State to state.

We really need more info on what type of place you are livingbin now to help give suggestions on how to relocate. And why you are going to California.
