I am 78 yrs old. Husband wants more sex. I want less sex. I know I am in early stages of dementia. I love him dearly. How do I respond?.

Is there any way to be intimate without penetration? I know sex can be less pleasurable with less lubrication and if that's the case then lube can help and foreplay. If he's become hypersexual this is a dementia symptom as they lose their filter. There is mutual masturbation, sex toys, and a lot of ways to have fun without penetration.

People, read her profile. This she is asking for her SIL?

So are asking for your SIL or you?

Just like you respond if you don't have Dementia. If she doesn't want it, he should respect that. Sometimes Denentia does highten the sexual response. Maybe if he waits, hers will kick in.

I think that you and husband should attend a few sessions with a good counselor to speak openly, frankly, and work out a path forward.

I don't know if this I'd an appropriate answer, but there are plenty of toys on Amazon for him to pick and choose from.

Sex for some women gets very uncomfortable along with hormonal changes that comes with the territory of aging.

Carol Wright even has a full selection of toys.

Does your husband have dementia? If so, there is a behavior that some with dementia develop, called ISB (inappropriate sexual behavior) or hypersexuality. You can talk to his doctor about this if you think this is something that applies to him. There are meds for this. This is not uncommon and we often get posts about it on this forum.

Yes, this quite likely is happening to your husband, and it can be controlled by medication. He would not want to be making you uncomfortable, if he was fully himself, so don't feel bad about trying to get it under control.

Women have much less desire after 70 due to loss of hormones and overall aging. I'm amazed any older man can even do it after 70.
You are a loving wife, so maybe ask your doctor?

I guess you do whatever you are comfortable with and then tell your husband that the Good Lord gave him two hands for a reason, so to knock himself out pleasuring himself.
At least at this stage in your life you still actually love your husband which isn't always the case for folks your age, so hopefully he will be kind and understanding since it's not him with the dementia.
