Mom has a collapsed lung. Chest tube has not drained the air. I don't believe they had suction on bc it was painful but I'm gonna ask if they can try that first.
She's weighing being in the hospital even longer now with the benefit. She really goes crazy in here and she knows it.
Has anyone had experience with this procedure pros/cons. They wanted to just do it like bring all the stuff in and explain it right before (ordering numbing agent etc etc) but we put the breaks on and our nurse was fantastic in messaging them to say "wait a minute". They came in at 5am to do another lung ultrasound and wanted to explain it then!
Not gonna have a team of people standing there ready to go while she makes this decision!
She's had to endure so much and been here 5 days now 😥
Edited to add. I had a convo with the hospitalist. I understand the IP team is on a schedule and we could miss a window and prolong her stay even more. It's just soooo frustrating to not be under pressure and I am HCPOA but mom has plenty of capacity. It's too bad they came in at 5 am when she was dead asleep and under pain meds. I told the doctor an 80 year old can't be expected to give informed consent under those circumstances and that I wasn't trying to be difficult. But I guess there probably will be a team of people standing there while she decides... Bc if we take time to weigh the decision they are just on to the next..
Sigh....
