Blood in vagina, years after hysterectomy. What could cause this?

Friends sister was bleeding. Went to doc who tested for UTI. Tested positive. Treated three times with antibiotic. When she went to ER required 6 bags of blood. Then diagnosed with bladder cancer.
Go get it checked out and let us know how you are doing. Hoping for a better outcome.

This question occasionally comes up around Christmas time. Maybe because of dry air. Anyways I asked this general question to a urogynocologist. Short answer: drt vaginally tissues. The remedy is a prescription vaginally cream. You need to see a gyno or urogyno office

My 86 yr old aunt was put on HRT because she was dry and atrophying. She began having periods again. But it would appear that in this case something may have been forcibly jammed in there creating bleeding.

Dependent on the amount of blood, and if it is bright red in color, you are looking at a call to urgent care, a visit to ER or an appointment with the doctor.
This is a common question here on AC, and if you go to the search bar on the timeline you can type in "vaginal bleeding" and see prior answers and "best guesses" or can scare yourself silly by googling "post menopausal bleeding".

OR you can get to your doc right away for a diagnosis. Do know that most of this is benign and due to vaginal atrophy of tissues, and is easily addressed, but you don't need this worry in the new year.

Wishing you the very best and hoping you will update us.

Call her primary doc/clinic today for guidance. They will decide if she needs an appointment, or to go Urgent Care today, or the ER now.
