As far as I know there is no VA death pension. The only way a Vet gets a pension is if they have 20 yrs of service. At time of retirement a survivor has to be mentioned. No survivor, the pension dies with the Vet.
Aid and Attendance can only be gotten if the Vet served during wartime. They have to be 65 too, I think. The Vet or spouse has to prove the cost of care is more than they bring in monthly. There is also an income cap.
Your County should have a VA office where you can talk to someone about what you can receive. Discharge papers are needed.
Aid and Attendance is what is paid to a caregiver to care for a veteran while alive, and the VA death pension comes after the veteran dies, so yes they are 2 totally different things.
