Does signing an admission packet from SNF with POA after your name absolve you from being held financially responsible for resident's stay?

There are 2 types of POAs. Immediate, where as soon as Mom signed the POA you had authority. Springing, you need the principle declared incompetent to make informed decisions by a doctor or doctors to invoke it.

So before you sign read you POA to see what type it is. If Mom is competent, she should sign her own paperwork.

When I signed it depended on the facility I was signing for how I signed it. Some excepted my signature with POA behind it, others wanted me to sign Moms name with my signature under hers and POA.

Signing your name followed by POA does not hold u responsible for Moms cost of care. Make sure anything you sign is followed by POA. Because POAs come on 8 x 14 in paper, I had mine shrunk to fit 8 x 11in paper so I could make copies on my printer. You need a Xerox machine that takes the 8x14 paper to have this done. Both Moms facilities had copies, all her doctors and the hospital had copies.

I personally wouldn't sign anything until the PoA is finalized and the conditions for activating the authority are met. If you can't wait, have your Mother sign it. Regarding how to sign it, please ask the attorney since rules for this may vary by state.

You sign your mother's name followed by "by YOUR NAME as POA"
So, if your mother is named Edna Jones and you are name Babe Jones you sign
