Counting Medicare premiums as income.

I had an appointment with Medicaid worker yesterday they told me my mom qualifies for Special Assistance Medicaid until they added back her Medicare premiums then fell over the income limit.
How can Medicare premiums be considered income? They couldn’t explain it either.
she no longer qualifies for SA Medicaid by $120 dollars.

Never looked at it that way. Interesting.

I would ask for a supervisor.

Medicare Premiums are automatically deducted from SS income. But that money still counts as income.

I think you need to look into the "spend down" program listed below. Or consult with some OUTSIDE of the Medicaid system itself, like a Medicaid Planner or an Elder Law attorney.
