Has anyone used RIPPL?

Today at my mom’s ALF I saw a flyer that said a company called RIPPL will be there in a few days. It didn’t describe the company but just stated something like “helping to care for you”. The gals at the nurses station said it was a new thing; they didn’t know about it, so I looked it up. Apparently RIPPL does Senior mental health. Has anyone put them in touch w your LO? How good are they?

I would be there and ask questions. First thing will Medicare and other insurances be billed for any cost. Thats going to be the big question especially with people with Medicare Advantages which are networked. Will these specialists except all insurances. Will there be any out of pocket for you. I may even call Moms insurance company to see what info they have on this place. Do ur research.

Looks like it is a Seattle-based company. The founder is an ex-Starbucks exec. Right now they are only active in Washington state. As an ad copywriter for decades in the medtech sector, the word that is absent from their website is "affordable". One can find care if one can pay for it. The main problem is paying for it. The most broken part of our system is the cost. It is basically a geriatric care management company. Who knows how much it costs. I guess if you have to ask, you can't afford it.

Thanks for the extra details about them. Affordable is big. My mom’s ALF is nice, but not high end. A substantial number of residents there have obvious signs of dementia. Sometimes I’ve wondered why some of them aren’t in memory care, but maybe they can’t afford it? Or maybe you have to have more advanced dementia to get into memory care? Idk. I wish they could help these residents more. These residents are VERY nice people, most are kind and loving people or funny and entertaining when things are going ok. When they become confused and frightened tho I sometimes haven’t recognized who that person is because it changes them so much when they are terrified. I worry about them.

They've only just launched.

It's basically a bunch of rich people who are feeling bruised by their own experience of dementia care (I sympathise), which evidently fell far short of their customer service expectations, and who reckon that with enough venture capital money they can cherry pick geriatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, behavioural experts and so on to create a workable model of dementia care that will meet the needs of the impending baby boomer cohort.

Good luck to them.

Meanwhile, I should focus on how competent any provider you consider is to do the work now, today.

Thank you Countrymouse for filling me in on the background of this company. I had no idea about them and figured they’d been around a while and just arrived in WA. Lol! I saw the dates they’ll be at my mom’s ALF -maybe I can go and ask some questions about their model. For now, my mom is doing fine under her PCP supervision (even though last fall I was concerned because there was not a gerio-psychiatrist that the PCP could refer her to).
