Advice on where to purchase portable generator for oxygen machine during power outages?

The company that supplies the oxygen should be providing a few portable tanks - enough for 4-6 hours at the usual flow rate, when they provide the concentrator. They also need to put a flow meter on one of the portable tanks, to get the person started. The idea is this gives the person time to be evacuated to a place with electricity, or a hospital. If they didn't do this, call them and tell them to get on it soonest. and be sure the person who uses the O2 knows how to use the portable tank, and how to move the flow meter to the next portable tank. Also safe storage of tanks - as rolling objects, they can cause damage or be pierced by something sharp. Then they explode.

Notify your local fire department. They should have a program for people in the area on oxygen. They usually provide generators.

Would you not be better off having a portable oxygen tank (which doesn't require electricity) for emergencies than relying on a generator?

I would call your local Municipal building and find out if you have an Emergency Management Department in your Town or county. Our local one takes names of people who may need emergency electricity during an outage. They will supply a generator. When my Mom was on oxygen, they left an old fashioned air tank just in case of an outage.

Do you have a portable concentrator? I just looked up and they have rechargeable batteries. Consider having an extra battery fully charged. Checking often to make sure its held its charge.

If no portable concentrator, check to see if Medicare will cover one.
