Is there a limit of social security to qualify for Medicaid in SC?

We cannot afford to put my mom in a home , she has Parkinson’s and some dementia, it’s getting harder and harder to deal with her

Not just SS but any pension she receives. You can make an appt with a Medicaid caseworker to see if she qualifies. You will need a lawyer to set up the income trust.

Check the Healthy Connections section of the SC HHS for eligibility - www.scdhhs.gov/Getting-Started.

It looks like the Income limit for nursing home Medicaid in SC is $2523.

Itooks like SC allows the establishment of an Income Trust.

The excess SS monies go into a trust t hat reverts to the state upon her death.

You should have a consult with an eldercare attorney or Medicaid planner to find out about how to set this up.
