My mom (69) had a hysterectomy 6 months ago and she just told me that she is bleeding. Is this a common thing or should I seek help?

JoAnn29 Jan 2022
This is a question for her GYN. Did she have uterian cancer, ovary cancer? Was it a complete hysteretomy meaning the ovaries were taken.

We're not Drs but we all know the signs of cancer. Unusual bleeding is one of them.

It could be something as simple as a vaginal cyst that ruptured, which is no big deal, it could be ovarian cancer.

Get her to a dr ASAP. The not knowing is worse than knowing.

Hopefully she had a complete hysterectomy, then no ovaries.

By the number of occurences on this Forum of this question we might guess that it is in fact not all that unusual. But of course ANY BLEEDING of any kind is immediately reportable to the appropriate doctor. Have your mother make an appointment with her MD.

Call her doctor right now.

Take her to the doctor. She doesn't have a uterus to bleed out of, so of course she needs medical attention.

No it's not. She needs immediate care or an ER.
