Zoloft and Seroquel?

LO was diagnosed three and half years ago with dementia, stroke and mini strokes. 6 months ago had another stroke. Since then his sexual habits have changed, talks about it all the time, plays with himself and was asking me to do things. When I said no, would get angry. Prescribed zoloft. Seemed to help some. Hired caregiver for 2 days a week so I can return to work part time. Last week she called me at work and was very scared. He was touching her rear and trying to grab breast, saying he was going to beat and rape her. Dr prescribed seroquel. Anyone have anything like this going on?

This behavior with dementia is known as ISB or Inappropriate Sexual Behavior. Let your DHs doctor know about it as medications can be prescribed to calm him down, although it sounds as though it's being dealt with. Obviously, you can't keep a caregiver who's frightened by his threats, nor can you be dealing with anger and behavior as you described him displaying. I don't know that Seroquel is typically what's prescribed for ISB, however. Zoloft is an anti-depressant and may not address the matter entirely, either.

Here is what comes up when ISB is Googled:

https://www.google.com/search?q=isb+and+dementia&rlz=1C1CHBD_enUS896US896&oq=isb+an&aqs=chrome.1.69i57j35i39j0i512l3j0i10j46i10i175i199j0i10l3.3495j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

As you can see, there is A LOT of information on the subject as many people are suffering the ramifications of ISB with dementia.

Wishing you the best of luck finding an answer for your DH and for yourself.

We didn't have the sexual stuff going on, but my mother was put on Seroquel when she started taking swings at the caregivers. It took the edge off and she calmed down. I don't think she was on it for very long, though.
