57 yrs old falls asleep the minute he sits down and hard to wake up. Is there medical condition to cause this or supplements to fix ?

Time to call for a doctor appointment.
Now it also depends on the 57 year old's schedule.
If he is up at 5 getting ready for work, does manual labor and gets home early in the evening and does a few things around the house then I also would fall asleep when I sat down.
On the other hand if he does noting all day the sleep could be boredom or depression.
Only a doctor would be able to get to the bottom of this.
There are medical conditions that can cause a person to be tired. There are medications that can have the same effect.

We aren't medically trained to guess at such a thing, especially without knowing the person, history, medications and etc. This is unusual, especially the difficulty in arousing someone this young. You need to take this question to the individual's doctor.
