I just found out my father has non alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Does anyone have any experience with cirrhosis and what to expect?

He has been healthy most of his life and a very moderate social drinker. I am shocked at this. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s about 8 years ago. He is still fairly independent and never really complains. Does anyone have any experience with cirrhosis and what to expect? My dad is 85 and a real sweetheart.

There are other causes for cirrhosis besides drinking. People get liver disease who were never drinkers.
Cirrhosis is serious and management of it depends on how advanced a case your father has. His doctor needs to run more tests to look for the cause of the cirrhosis if he wasn't a drinker. He could have another condition that caused it and would need different treatment.
