Incontinence - what are some of the helps?

Incontinence in elderly people who still want to travel, who tire of the fact of their incontinence. What are some of the helps that person needs to do to look, behave, travel as close to normal despite the incontinence as is possible?

Have you been to the urologist to see if there is any help for this incontinence? Some have prolapse or other issues that can be fixed or at least explain the problem. How I wish my mom would follow through with going to get these possibilities checked out!

The best advice I have is that those with incontinence need to totally accept the reality of their situation and plan accordingly, it's people who are in denial that end up being caught short and having embarrassing incidents.
Always wear a product that is appropriate for your level of incontinence, don't try to make a pad (or guard for men) do the work of a brief or pullup.
Travel with several extra incontinence products, a change or two of clothes, disposable gloves and wipes, and bags for used items and to contain soiled clothes.
Tab style briefs might be easier to change than pullups in pubic washrooms.
Keep the location of washroom facilities in mind when planning outings.
Always avail yourself of the facilities when they are handy, don't wait until the need is urgent.
If you know you are going out keep your diet and fluid intake in mind (I'm not incontinent but I know I'll regret having that second cup of coffee before I go for my walk!)
Good luck :)
