My mother is in an assisted living area and today I found out they are giving out info to people that are not on the list to give info to.

That is against HIPPA and I will file with IDPH but when I told them I would be picking my mother up do to the hippa violation and not returning none of my phone calls, they go that is fine. You can, but you will be paying for your mother's room till its rented. Can make me pay even if there is a 1 year contract like they said. I signed but do don't remember seeing that or being told that when I put her in there.

I would be upset if HIPPA laws weren’t followed. Still, you signed a contract. Can you consult an attorney for advice on this matter?

Yes. They can make you pay. Guaranteed there is a signed contract that says you can’t just leave without notice without paying some sort of penalty.

You need to always need to read a contract. My Moms read that she could give 30 day notice. Her rent increase was a yearly thing. Who did they give information to whom they should not have? Funny that the facility doesn't follow HIPPA laws. Really, should only talk to the POA or at least the person who placed Mom there.
