Husband is in memory care now but funds are getting low. Is it hard to get Medicaid for him and do they give the spouse enough to live on?

I do own our home but need to be able to pay the bills. Any advice would be appreciated.

See an elder law attorney NOW! You are entitled to one half of the cash assets and the home and one car. You spend down his half of the cash assets to be eligible for Medicaid.

My mother received Medicaid for her nursing home care after her long term care policy ran out. My father was required to sell one car, he kept the newer one, he also kept his SS and other retirement income in full. My mother’s SS went to nursing home. His needs were fully met and lifestyle didn’t change at all

they will leave you enough to live on, but I would suggest in your case to see a good elder attorney in your area to make sure you and your husband are taken care of properly.
