Are there any home care agencies that are willing to test blood glucose and pass meds?

My aunts finally agreed to seek out a care service for my father who has dementia and diabetes. It seems as if caregivers from agencies are not able to give meds or test glucose levels. Any suggestions for finding help with this? I worry that hiring a nurse will be too costly.

Welcome, Badher!

You need to check your state's regulations about who can do what.

Talk to your local Area Agency on Aging; they can tell you what level of professional you need to do this.

And yes, it will be costly. That's why it may be that your loved one needs to be in a facility with medical professionals and not at home.

He needs a "higher level of care".
