Does anyone have resources for becoming a certified caregiver?

The person I care for is on Medicare and just received a housing voucher. But in order for me to still be a live in caregiver, I'm required to get certified. I have no idea how to do this. Any help is much appreciated!

Call around to the nursing homes in the area. See if they provide courses for their employees and if you can join onevof the courses if u pay. Technical schools may have CNA certification as some Community Colleges.

I agree, its not Medicare its probably Medicaid. As suggested, ask them how you can get certified. The course is usually 8 to 10 wks. I see where there are online classes but you maybe required to do clinical in a NH or Hospital. Then the problem is who will care for your client while u get clinical hours in?

If it is Medicaid [which is different from Medicare], check with your State Medicaid office and see what is required to be certified.
