Is my blood pressure fixed because of quitting smoking?

Hi, I am a 50 year old male. I have been on ramipril 5mg for 7 years. I quit smoking a year ago, and I recently stopped eating any sugar or salt snacks. I have noticed my BP has been been a lot lower as of late , such as 116/64 to 128/74. The other thing I have noticed is my Heart rate seems to have gone lower also, like seems to stay around 55 at rest. Even as low as 49. Is this from stopping eating sugar and salt and quitting smoking??? Or can there be a more negative thing here ? Should I stop taking the BP meds?

See your doctor. It may not being able to stop it may be you just need a lower dosage. Too low BP will cause you to be tired.

Well done quitting smoking and giving up sugar and salt. These moves can only improve your health. You really need to see your doctor re the changes in heart rate and blood pressure. You may not need the ramipril any more, or you may need a lower dose. I wouldn't stop taking the meds before seeing your doctor. (S)he is the best person to advise you.

Again congratulations on the life style changes. You should be a healthier man now, but get that confirmed by a professional.

It may not be that simple, your BP is now at a health normal WITH the help of medication...

You never stop a prescribed medication without talking to your doctor first.
It is possible that quitting smoking and better eating habits may have helped BUT you don't know that for sure and will not unless you see your doctor.
I would schedule an appointment and see what he/she says.
