My friend has no family or other friends. She lives in assisted living because she has dementia and depression. Where can she get help?

If she is living in AL she is getting help and there are many around her that she can interface with, what help does she need?

Is there a Passages/Area Agency on Aging near her? If so, they sometimes--depends on budget and how rural it is; take it from my 1st-hand experience, do not grow old in a rural area unless you've got at least 6 daughters/DIL's--have an Ombudsman that will help people in assisted living/skilled nursing facilities.

carlesa, since your friend lives in Assisted Living, she is already getting help. Just curious what type of help you think she needs, or are these things she is saying to you?

Is your friend self-paying for her care, or is she on Medicaid? If the latter, she probably is living in a nursing home.

What kind of help does she need? Is her depression being treated?
