Go to your local public library and check out the latest version of willmaker. Then will make. The process is pretty much the same as using tax preparation software. You can make POAs, wills and even trusts.

For my own part, as POA and Trustee of Trust for my brother, I would not stint on a lawyer for this. It is too crucial. Once done it is done, but you need honest clear guidance. Some senior centers or social workers may guide you to the most low cost care.

I used to tell people to see a lawyer. Now not so much after having spent thousands on one for literally nothing. For simple situations, it can be really simple to DIY. I did the POA and health care directives for my parents. Not a single person has challenged it.

Also, once it's done doesn't mean it's done. Laws change. My parents will from years ago is basically worthless now. Today, no one would write a will like theirs. It's basically worthless. That will going to probate would be effectively the same as going to probate without a will.

Legalzoom.com or Rocketlawyer.com

Customized to your state and you can purchase different levels of legal help, if needed. I used Legalzoom and am very satisfied. Mostly use in uncomplicated arrangements. If more complex, then a consult with elder law/estate planning attorney would be worthwhile.
