How old is your mother? What is her financial means? This info will help the forum give you best suggestions.
You can contact your local area's Council on Aging. They have many resources to point you to. May you have peace and comfort as you deal with your cancer.
You say Mom is in independent living. Can she no longer afford this? Moving to an apt, who is going to cook for her. Transportation, socialization. Doesn't the IL provide this? Won't she be better where she is if something happens to you?
MM: Does mom need a new apartment because she is living with you and you have been diagnosed with terminal cancer? I'm so sorry about this very sad situation.
