My husband is displaying mood changes. Was always easy going, but is now angry and having outbursts. Should I call my doctor?

He overreacts about many things. Also is angry and tells me to STOP if I question him. Isolates by himself. My talking causes him to feel overwhelmed. Personality change. Last night driving he drove too fast for road conditions and blew up when I asked him to stop. I am afraid to be in the car with him. Should I call my doctor?

A personality change is usually never a good thing. I would call your doctor as soon as possible.

I agree.

Yes. Call at once. This could be simple as a Urinary Tract infection, or complicated as a recent stroke, but the sudden change is profound. There is a reason. My guess offhand is that there has been a stroke of some kind. If this is a profound and sudden change he needs an immediate checkup.

I don't think apologies can or should explain away erratic and new behavior such as your husband is exhibiting. Don't let him try to distract you from making a doctor's appointment for him right away, even if his behavior changes back to normal within a half hour. This isn't about being 'sorry'........it could be about being sick and getting diagnosed.

All the best of luck!

You are right to be concerned for his safety and yours. Yes, get a thorough check up. I would not allow him to drive until he sees his doctor. So sorry that you are experiencing this. I would be concerned too.

Get him to an ER right away. This could be a multitude of reasons and I wouldn't wait to be seen by his primary doctor.

Calgal, take hubby to his primary doctor to have a test for an Urinary Tract Infection. Such an infection can cause in us older folks to have outbursts, not be user friendly, etc. This infection can be treated with antibiotics.
