I am a widow (59) with no siblings. My widowed father (85) lives with me. Is there any assistance available to provide caregiving in home?

He suffers from strokes and dementia. He is getting beyond doing anything for himself. I have to work to provide for myself. Is there any assistance available to provide care giving in home?

If he qualifies for medicaid, he may be able to get the TennCare Choices in which the state/county pays for in-home services. Here's a link for your state.

If he doesn't qualify, you may need to spend his funds on private care until he qualifies. Good luck

Medicare not until you are 65. Medicaid? There are qualifiers. Call them or check their website.

Contact Area Agency on Aging for resources.
Contact Department of Human Services in your county. Was dad a veteran? There may be VA benefits available. Check their website.

Call your local Area Agency on Aging (every county in the US) has one and ask them to do a needs assessment. That's where you start.

Welcome! And stick around here; there's lots of good support.
