My husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Does he qualifies for hospice or for a nursing home through the Veteran's benefits program.

I am getting ready for what's coming. My question is: what is hospice and who pays for it? My husband was a Marine for 4 years and 2 years in the reserves.

Does any one know if he qualifies for hospice or for a nursing home through the Veteran's benefits program. Of course, I will not abandon him. I love him and will visit him every day. We don't have a lot of money.

I don't think I can do this. I am already becoming exhausted from answering the same question over and over again. He is also always talking about dead people especially, about his relatives that have passed away.

Hospice is paid for by Medicare. It’s not full time care though. If he was diagnosed just a year ago, is he really ready for hospice? No one here knows if he qualifies for hospice. His doctor is the one who will make that recommendation.
