Mom just diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome. Any advice?

ACaringDaughter Jul 2019
My mom suffered from this syndrome. We found a wonderful oncologist who managed her care.

Learning that Mom has this was helpful. She felt pretty good most the time after she started receiving treatment.

I am absolutely certain that this treatment prolonged her life and the quality of her life.

First, my sympathy to your mother and to all the people who love her. Second, Wikipedia says that the average survival time for this type of cancer is 2.5 years. Do you have questions about how to cope with that time? It is possible, but very difficult, to cope in-home with a fairly short term cancer, with help from hospice. Otherwise you need to be looking at care options that include nursing for end-of life care. Please provide more information so that you can get more help from the Forum members. Love, Margaret
