How can I donate a used hospital bed?

My mother passed away in March. I have been trying to donate a hospital bed, but have had no takers. I called the county Department of Aging, the Salvation Army, Goodwill, hospice care, and other charities. I put the bed on Facebook Marketplace and had no interest. I really thought that there would be an interest in a good hospital bed. I checked Craig's List and eBay and they also sell and ship hospital beds. I would prefer for the interested person to pick up the bed. Has anyone had any experience with donating a hospital bed?

I put one on consignment to local medical supply company. It sold pretty quickly and I got some money. Find an outfit that sells medical equipment and ask if they will take it on consignment.

Hi,

I have a fully electric hill rom bed with air mattress that prevents bed sores. The bed can go up into a standing position as well. I would love to donate to someone who needs it. In Colorado, so would need to arrange for it to be transported to you.

Many medical supply companies will do a full cleaning and either rent, donate or sell used DME, they might even come and pick it up. Call around your immediate area.

Hi. I have a fully electric ICU hospital bed with air mattress to prevent bed sores. The air mattress can be maximum inflated, making it easier to slide the patient up in the Bed. It can turn a patient side to side to make it easier to roll a patient. It has vibration and percussion therapy settings. It has a “Opti-rest” setting which moves the air in the mattress for maximum comfort. The entire bed can be placed in a cardiac chair position. The bed has a scale so you can weigh the patient while in bed. The bed is a Hill-Rom TotalCare Sport Bed. It has an IV pole, it has a a hand remote for those patients that have difficulty reaching the bed controls in the railing. You would have to have it shipped to your location, I am in San Jose, California. The bed weighs approximately 600 lbs. Are you interested?

I have two twin hospital type beds with remotes that I would like to donate to someone in need, They would need to be picked up in Gold Canyon Arizona at a 55 plus park. I have tried many other options and no one seems to be able to pick them up. Anyone out there interested??? Please let me know

There are several things at work here. First of all the need for this sort of thing comes in waves. Secondly I have found that people want things for free and they tend to also want you to bring it to them. Crazy, yes I know.

I’m surprised you did not have good luck on Facebook marketplace. My suggestion if the church call doesn’t work, is to contact a nursing home or private care home or assisted-living that you know handles low-income residents. Also they are very unlikely to take a used mattress.

I know when I had a relative he had to move into a nursing home the beds there were in poor condition. So many of them were manual.

When my uncle died my aunt donated his very nice hill ROM bed to a nursing home where my grandmother resided and she ended up using that bed while there.
