My mother fell and was admitted to the hospital for five days. She went to a rehab facility for three weeks but was discharged for no progress.

She was ill and dizzy when she stood up, she was taking a strong antibiotic for an infection she was unable to do rehab. She discontinued the antibiotic on the day the rehab facility discharged her for not being able to participate in rehab. I moved her to a skilled nursing facility in which she has not been able to participate because the side effects from the antibiotic are gone. The skilled nursing facility is now telling me she has no medicare benefits because then the rehab facility discharged her that closed the benefit period even though she was only there 21 days and was not rehabilitated.

I appreciate any input on this situation.

Ask to speak with either the Social Worker or the financial office at the facility where Mom is now. They know what can and cannot be done and how to do it so Mom can get the best benefit.
