What can Mum do to get out of bed independently?

JoAnn29 Mar 2019
When I put in the site needtowashhair gave, the pictures that come up are the like the rail I used for Mom. It was recommended when she hurt her back. Besides helping her up it gave her something to hold on to when standing. I had a problem with the AL. They considered it a restraint. They suggested a trapeze. Really! Mom could raise one of her arms over her head. My daughter felt ALs were usually not as strict as NHs. Really, you pay privately for your room. She thinks I could have fought it.

I installed one of those strap-on bed rails for DW. It even has pockets for whatevers. Worked good until she got too bad.

Install bed assist rails. They are cheap and easy to install. With those, even my 100+ year old grandma can still get out of bed all by herself.

This is what I'm talking about. They are available in various brands from various companies. I've gotten them from a bunch of different companies and regardless of brand, they have all been the same.

If you have an Aldi by you, then they are currently on sale for $10.

Please provide more information. Is she bedbound? Uses a walker or wheelchair or hoyer? Are you trying to get her out of bed yourself or are you asking how she can get out independently on her own without anyone around?
