Caregiving while in assisted living?

My mother had a stroke 3 years ago and cannot live alone. She is at an assisted living facility although actually I think a nursing home is what is needed. I go to see her everyday and take care of her daily needs and supplies. Is this considered being a caregiver even if there are staff members who also take care of her? I feel very guilty a lot of the time because she is there and not living with me, but she is too handicapped for me to handle.

Thank you.

You are certainly a caregiver. The staff can only do so much in an ALF and your extra help and love must make a huge difference in her life. Try to dial back your guilt - it's not helping either of you. You can't handle her needs at home so you are doing the next best thing.

Yes, you are considered a caregiver.
