My aunt is the POA over my grandparents. Can she keep us (my mother and I) from seeing them?

They live at home but aunt doesn’t want us there. We suspect she may be exploiting them for their money but we just want to visit. The aunt has blocked our numbers from my grandparents phone, tried to get a restraining order and even taken the phone I bought for my grandparents so I can get in touch with them. I’m just lost and don’t know what to do at this point.

By they way, no one has POA over someone. Your Grands had to have assigned your Aunt. Like I said, they can also revoke it. Also, POA doesn't come into effect unless a person is no longer competent to make their own decisions. If they can make informed decisions her POA is not in effect. Literally, they r being kept prisoners.

She took them to sign the paperwork I feel but not certain almost forced them to sign. My grandma is of sound mind my grandfather on the other hand not so much

Adult protection services (APS)call them. This maybe considered abuse. If your Aunt cannot give a very good reason why she isn't allowing you to visit, then she has no authority to keep you away. Also ask APS if they r able to review GMoms financials. Tell them you expect misuse of their money. Are your Grands of sound mind? If so they can remove Aunt as POA and assign someone else.

that's horrible...maybe contact social services ..they might be able to do a surprise visit to see what's actually going on there. The more I read about how old folks are being treated, the more terrified I am of getting older!!

Hugs to you. This is a miserable situation to be in and I'm very sorry it's happening to your family.

Your grandparents live in their own home or in your aunt's home?
