Myronsdaughter Asked November 2018

My father, who is in AL has Parkinson's and also dementia. He has been told a thousand times to "press his button" to get help.

He needs help to stand up and walk with his walker. But he continues to get up many times per day. If someone is not there to stop him, he is very likely to fall. My mother stays in his room hours per day but she is reaching a point that she needs a break. Home health care organizations are SO expensive. Are there other options I could consider? I was happy to see that new Medicare Advantage plans have home health care, but I've been told that these are not for people in AL, just those still living at home. True?

I think that perhaps you need to evaluate is your father is getting the correct level of care. Is it possible that he now needs a nursing home or memory care environment?
