I have heard that California offers a monthly stipend to people caring for elderly parents. Is this true?

How can I get hooked up?? I'm moving from Oregon to live with mom in California. I'm going to need some extra income to keep things going in Oregon while I'm gone. I'd appreciate any information anyone has about this!! And which agency to contact to get hooked up!!

Not true. There is no monthly stipend. There is in-home support services BUT your parents have to qualify for medi-cal and be assessed for IHSS and qualify. Its based on income and need. If they qualify, there will be a certain number of caregiving hours assigned. And you can be hired by them as the caregiver. IHSS is run by department of social services in each county, so you would contact their county department of social services. If your dad is a veteran, he may be entitled to VA benefits.
