My Mom is in a memory care unit. She probably has enough funds to stay there another 2 years at the most. Any advice?

What do I do when I know she will not have the funds to stay there?

Dad's MC told me to let them know when we were down to $20K, and they would put me in touch with people to guide me thru the Medicaid process and search for a SNF.

And well done for looking ahead. So many people can't face doing it and get into such hot water.

DeanHess, first thing check and see if the Memory Care facility will take Medicaid [which is different from Medicare]. If yes, then that will be perfect, your Mom could stay there but Mom would need to apply and be approved for Medicaid. Medicaid will pay for Mom's room, board, and care.

If the above facility does not take Medicaid, then you would need to check around and see what nursing facilities take Medicaid. I would suggest you put Mom's name on their waiting list and putting down a refundable deposit as sometimes it can take 3 months or 6 months or a year to get an opening.
