As a caregiver, has anyone claimed their parent on taxes?

AlfredR Apr 2018
The parent cannot have taxable income of over $4,050 or file a joint return with a spouse. Also, you must provide over 50% of their support, including housing, food, healthcare, etc. The exemption for any dependent ends in 2017, but you may qualify to deduct their medical expenses and claim a dependent care credit in 2017 and later years, assuming that you paid for these expenses.
