An associate of mine lives in an unlicensed board and care. He had a stroke. Should the manager notify his next of kin?

Is your associate - associate? What is the nature of your relationship? - just curious - able to give his consent to the manager's sharing this kind of information?

If the stroke has left him unable to communicate or respond to questions, the manager will need to trawl back through any records or documents and see if they yield information about his wishes. But if s/he goes ahead and shares confidential information without the resident's consent, s/he'd better have very good reasons for doing so.

Absolutely! What is he/she waiting for? Until the poor guy dies?
