Will my spouse's SSDI be used to pay for permanent stay in skilled nursing? He’s on Medi-Cal.

I’m dependent on his income as his caregiver, but can no longer take care of him at home. We own our home but I wouldn’t be able to pay mortgage without his income. If I sold the home would SNF take that money?

Have you been assigned a Medi-cal caseworker? Some or all of your husband's ssdi will be diverted to you. Your home is yours as long as you live. There may be lien on it after your death, so you may not be able to pass it on in a will. You should talk to the caseworker for details regarding staying in the house or selling it.
