I am my mothers caregiver and can't work a job because she has a tendancy to fall. Is there a way I can get paid from the government?

California has IHSS, In Home Support Services. The pay is $11./hr. in San Diego but higher in other counties.
You will have to take a class and be fingerprinted. You mom will need to be assessed to see how many hours she qualifies for.

Meme, the vast majority of grown children are not paid for taking care of their parent... unless the parent can pay you from their own savings account. If your Mom can do that, then you would need to draw up an employment agreement.

You could call Medicaid [which is different from Medicare] to see if your Mom could quality for that program.  Some State do have income for caregivers, but note the income would be quite minimal.  Each State has their own rules, regulations, and programs depending on their State budgets.
