My mother has credit cards only in her name. There will not be enough money to pay them off. What should I do?

I can't afford to pay them. What should I do?

Answers are correct. I think you left out some info "When she does..." pass away? Children are not responsible for parents debts. Any assets she has should pay debts. No assets, you will need to prove it to the creditors and they will have to write off the debt.

I think needtowashhair is correct. From what I've read, you don't inherit your parents' debt. When she dies, the estate, not you, will owe the money. The debts would have to be paid before heirs can inherit anything. If she doesn't leave enough money to pay off the debt, her creditors get what she does leave, and they're out of luck on the rest.

If they are in her name, why would you be paying them off at all? They are in her name.
