My mom is blind and has lupus. She's been living in a small apartment on her own for years but is now getting very frail. Any suggestions?

She has no assests and is on medicaid. Is there assisted living that will accept her in the Southeast MI area?

When I was looking for my MIL in Michigan, they had medicaid vouchers that would go towards assisted living. That might be a possibility. I agree with checking with the Area on Aging.

Maybe also it would be good to check with your local Area Agency on Aging to see what she might be eligible for.

Lalk, usually "Assisted Living" is self-pay but Medicaid will pay for Mom's care if she goes into a skilled "nursing home". Call around to the various nursing homes in your area, and take a tour of those that accept Medicaid. Once you find one that you think your Mom would like, talk to the Admin to see how Mom can become a resident of that facility.
