I was flim-flamed out of my mortgage free home by a family member. Is this legal?

The lender required the deed to my mortgage-free home be put in their name as security for a personal loan with a promissory note stating they would put it back in my name. Despite me paying the note in full without missing any payments they told me I did not have a home to put back in my name. I was also told the day I signed that deed they became the owner of my home. Is this legal?

BJHarris, what type of Deed did you sign? I was wondering if it was a Quitclaim Deed where in fact you would be turning over the house to someone else.

I agree with jjariz above, time to call a real estate attorney.
