My mom takes care of her brother who has dementia and had a stroke last year in May 2016. I wanted to know if there is income assistance since he lives with us?

She gives him showers because he can't bathe for himself. He wears depends as well.

The vast majority of caregivers to love ones do not get paid.... unless the love one can pay them. Does your Mom's brother get Social Security, a pension, disability income? He could hand that over to your Mom to help pay for what he needs.

Otherwise, see if your Mom's brother can qualify for Medicaid [which is different from Medicare]. Depending on your State, there might be such programs where a family caregiver can get paid, but please note the pay will be very minimal. Also to see what other programs are available.
