I have been caring for my 86-year-old stepfather, by myself, for the last few months. Where can I find support?
I am waiting for home health care help. I had help during the week days, but his private help was taking advantage of him, financially. I am exhausted and could use some advice, and talk to someone.
Why have you been waiting for home health care for a few months? When my husband had it, it was all set up in a few days, and 2 days after he left rehab, the therapists were at our house, the bath aide and Visiting Nurse out by the end of the week.
If you are using an agency, (hopefully not the same one who sent you what sounds like the dishonest one),call the manager and tell them you need help immediately. If they can’t comply with your request, find another.
Could you explain what you mean that your Step-Dad's private caregiver had been taking financial advantage of him? In what way? Or do you mean the hourly cost for such service was quite expensive?
